Albemarle, North Carolina - Rock Creek Park

Remains of Yadkin Railroad line - now a 1 mile long hiking trail
Constructed in 1891 and ran 31 miles from Salisbury to Norwood.  The line never had rolling stock of its own but was run by the Southern Railroad. It was never profitable so in 1916 it was spun off. Passenger service was discontinued in 1928 and the line was dismantled in 1938.
