Tunnel Hill, Georgia

The Western and Atlantic Depot was built approximately 1850. The tunnel was built from 1848 to 1850 into Chetoogeta Mountain. It is 1,477 feet long. It was used until 1928 when it was replaced by a new tunnel build beside the original one.

  1. Where does the "Andrew's Depot" caption come from? Andrew only got a glimpse of the depot, the raid by the yankee spies gets way too much credit! Men died here, but that rarely gets mentioned, only the train thieves!
